AMERIE - 'MINE'

What’s Good Y’all! Now I’m a little upset with y’all, because why didn’t anyone say anything about this new single from Amerie?! Are we listening to new music out there? Or just recycling oldies but goodies because the soul needs familiarity right now? Whatever it is I do not like being late but better late than never! Amerie is Back y’all and this time it is that familiar sound I missed so much!

For years people have been asking what happened to Amerie, and as a huge fan I too began to ask those same questions after her 2009 album In Love & War. So I was beyond elated to see Amerie pop up 9 years ago on The Breakfast Club to discuss where she has been, what she has been up to and if new music was on the way! In 2018 Amerie released two albums, ‘After 4AM' and '4AM Mulholland.' Can I be real with you friends? I didn’t like them, both of them. I was extremely disappointed and I don’t know if I wasn’t open enough to the new sound Amerie was experimenting with but now with the release of her latest single ‘Mine’ I’m realizing it wasn’t me lol.

Whatever Amerie was trying to experiment with her last two projects, I find it admirable and brave. It’s hard to try something new and then put it out hoping the world loves it just as much as you. Well I didn’t lol but I hope y’all did. Nonetheless, I waited for a redo, and Mine delivered EXACTLY what I love, missed and wanted from Amerie! I mean I’m just listening like are we in the early 2000’s again? Because the beat, the ease and beauty of the lyrics with Amerie’s vocals is a match made in heaven. I am praying for a project with more than 10 songs! Long overdue and let’s be real I deserve this lol.
