What’s good y'all! It is officially concert season! A multitude of artists have hit the road to do what they love, and I jumped at the opportunity to see the incomparable Chanté Moore. I had no clue she was touring, so shoutout to social media ads targeting me for something I’d actually enjoy! lol My homegirl and I got cute and headed to the City Winery in Nashville, TN. The venue was beautiful, it was dinner and a show, you sat at a candlelit table with other Chanté fans alike. You order your drink and your choice of appetizer, entree or dessert. I chose a nice Pinot Noir and truffle fries. lol Not that the two pair well, but the truffle was calling me. You make your order just in time for the show, as the lights dim and it’s now just you, the fans and candlelight cascading the room awaiting for THE Chanté Moore to enter stage left as the band begins to take their place on stage. I will be honest, I only knew a few Chanté Moore songs, but I just knew I had to see her live. I’m a fan of great vocalists, especially those we grew up with. A year ago I kept thinking about all the amazing black artists who are no longer with us and how I never got to see them in their element. After that thought I vowed to support and love on the artists that are still with us.

My eyes lit up as Chanté Moore blessed the stage donning a shimmering, blue leotard, reminiscent of something you’d see Tina Turner perform in. At 58 years old Chanté is more than just a singer she is a PERFORMER! It was genuinely like watching a soulful one woman show. She spoke to us, and we spoke back lol as she shared her perspective about love, marriage, divorce, life and motherhood. She bared her soul, spirit and heart on that stage and you felt so connected to her as she sung classic songs like ‘Loves Taken Over’, ‘It’s Alright’, ‘Wey U’, ‘Candlelight & You’, ‘Chanté’s Got A Man’ and her latest hit single with Eric Benet, ‘So Distracted’.

At 19 she was signed under Warner Bros Records. Unfortunately they ended up shelving her debut album and eventually dropping her from the label. MCA Records through Silas Records ended up signing Moore and immediately began working on her solo debut ‘Precious’ which would be released in September of 1992. Knowing her longevity in the industry and the various setbacks or changes she has gone through only made the show more inspiring as Moore shared her testimony of wanting to give up but holding onto faith knowing that this was her chosen path.

Towards the end Chanté shared the name of her upcoming album along with a few recorded but unreleased tracks. I did not take a lot of video, because I really just wanted to be in the moment. I was in awe, watching such an icon. The way she worked the stage, interacted with the fans, how she showed love for her band and background vocalists and her husband! It was all just so beautiful. If Chanté Moore is in a city near you, I HIGHLY suggest you get dressed up and take yourself or a special someone out for a beautiful night of wine and Chanté Moore.
