What’s Good Y’all! Happy Women’s History Month! As we celebrate the last few days of Women’s History Month I thought it was befitting to review one of my favorite voices within the new era of R&B. With her new track Soft Girl Era, I am so ready for a new Ari Lennox album. Now it took me a minute to really get into this bop but I think that’s because I’m no longer in my soft girl era. However, for those that are or looking to be lol this for you!
I knew the song was produced by JD. Besides shouting “Y'all know what this is” lol you know a JD beat when you hear one. However, I was still missing something, so I sent the song to my friend AJ. I asked him his thoughts and he said, “It’s straight, I rock with the sample.” SAMPLE?! My friend is a hip-hop connoisseur so of course he would notice the Junior M.A.F.I.A Player's anthem Sample!!!
Such A small piece really adds to the continued marriage of Hip-Hop and R&B. I don't have too much to say about this single to be honest, I want to hear the album and see the direction Ms. Ari is going this time. I am such a fan of Ari Lennox, no matter what she is singing just know she's giving smooth buttery vocals and Soft Girl Era is no different!
