Buju Banton, Protoje and Cocoa Sarai Remind Us That Mental Wellness Matters on “Oh My”

Sometimes music is meant to make you dance. Other times, it’s meant to make you think. And every so often, a record manages to do both while reminding us that there’s a much bigger conversation to be had.
Buju Banton, Protoje and Brooklyn singer Cocoa Sarai have joined forces for “Oh My (#SaveSoil),” a socially conscious collaboration released October 10 in recognition of World Mental Health Day.
The record encourages listeners to prioritize mental wellness, practice compassion and recognize our shared responsibility to one another and the world around us.
Three Voices, One Important Conversation
Buju Banton has spent decades using Reggae as a platform for conversations about faith, justice and the human experience. Protoje represents a generation of artists continuing that tradition, blending contemporary sounds with conscious messaging. Cocoa Sarai’s soulful delivery brings another layer of emotion to the record.
Together, they create something that feels bigger than a collaboration between three artists. It’s a reminder that music can still serve as a vehicle for awareness.
Music That Speaks to the Mind
The release is especially meaningful because of its connection to World Mental Health Day. For generations, Reggae has addressed social conditions, spirituality, injustice and the everyday struggles of people navigating difficult circumstances. Mental wellness belongs in those conversations, too.
And while we’re becoming increasingly comfortable discussing mental health publicly, there’s still work to be done when it comes to encouraging compassion, seeking support and making emotional well-being a priority.
A Global Sound With a Global Purpose
“Oh My” is the second single from the forthcoming Conscious Planet compilation EP. The project is executive produced by WondaGurl, whose production credits include Rihanna, Drake and Travis Scott.
Production contributions on the track also come from LosHendrix and Nami Ondas, with background vocals from Lila Iké. Musically, the record incorporates live horns, flute and percussion, bringing together traditional Reggae instrumentation and contemporary production.
Beyond the music, the larger project supports the Save Soil movement, which raises awareness about soil degradation and environmental sustainability. Taking care of ourselves and taking care of the world shouldn’t be separate conversations.
More Than Just Another Collaboration
At a time when music can move through our timelines faster than we have a chance to appreciate it, “Oh My” offers listeners a reason to sit with the message. Because sometimes the most meaningful records aren’t necessarily the loudest ones.
They’re the ones that encourage us to listen a little closer, think a little deeper and maybe even check on somebody we love. And that’s a message worth amplifying.
