What’s Good y’all! Concert season is still in full effect and last night I was able to catch the very last show of Coco Jones’ Why Not More US Tour. Coco came back to her hometown of Nashville, TN and showed out on the very last tour stop with musical openers TA Thomas and Lady London also blessing the stage.

Have you ever seen a show in Nashville? Have you ever been to the Ryman in Nashville? If the answer is no to both questions I implore you to put both of those things on your bucket list. The crowd's energy is Nashville is unmatched and like no other. Nashville loves a good time and everywhere you go with black people will always be a good time, put those two things together you have a REAL GOOD ASS TIME!!! The Ryman Auditorium, originally built as a Union Gospel Tabernacle, opened its doors in 1892. Over the years to pay off its debt the Ryman began accepting acts that were no longer under the realm of just preaching the gospel. From Harry Houdini to Charlie Chaplin, Martin Luther King Jr., Dolly Parton and the Wu-Tang Clan…many iconic and historical figures have blessed the stage at the Ryman. When you walk in you are greeted by amazing staff, it’s hard to know exactly where your seats are within the original design of pew seats but no worries someone will assist you the entire way. When you finally take your seat, no matter where you are in the building you are taken aback, the Ryman is a special and historical space…you can just feel it in the air.
Concerts are one of my favorite events to attend, as the room fills with like minded patrons such as yourself and everyone prepares for the performance of a lifetime.
The show begins with TA Thomas blessing the stage not only with his presence but also with his beautiful voice! A voice made for the Ryman, TA was a perfect opener for Coco as he worked the crowd with his melodies and charisma. It's funny because I listened to his latest project, ‘Southern Soul’ a few months ago so I was excited to see him bless the stage. If you are searching for new R&B talent TA Thomas is one to keep your eye on!
Lady London was a second opener for Coco. While I had never heard of her, her stage presence alone made sure you were going to be a fan before the night was through. Lady London hit the stage in a super cute plaid mini dress with platform black heels, it was a mix of spice girls and clueless and I loved it. Not missing a beat Lady London showed out for Nashville, and I beyond enjoyed her interaction with the crowd. I look forward to seeing Lady London again as she continues to grow but this was such a great introduction!
Coco Jones is everything I knew she would be. I have been following Coco Jones since 2013. I’m not sure if they still do this, but Apple Music would feature a song every week that you could download for free. I downloaded her song Deja vu in 2013 and ever since I was like ok she’s one to watch, let’s see. Flash forward to the release of her second studio album Coco has become a force to reckon with within R&B. Her stage presence is a combination of all the great artists of the past and present. And vocally, you are being taken to church as she belts out harmonies from her second and third album. Songs like ‘Taste’, ‘AEOMG’, ‘No Chaser’, ‘ICU’ and many more were among the setlist and just when you think the show is over, Coco ends with ‘Here We Go (Uh Oh).’ The energy was on ten and you could feel it in the air the entire show. There is something about the people of Nashville…the love they give you is unmatched and I hope all the artists felt it on that stage last night. This is my second show at the Ryman and each time it has felt like a revival. Music is something spiritual, healing and it's something that connects human beings together so that we can have this one universal experience and I adore spaces like that.

If you missed the US dates of the Why Not More Tour, no worries! I highly suggest going overseas and checking out the UK leg of the tour, not only will you get to see a beautiful new country but you can also check out Coco doing what she was clearly born to do!
