What’s Good Y'all!!! As we near the end of the year, I feel that this next artist and album is very befitting to present next. When you hear Elmiene you instantly think of Brent Fayaz, but in less of a f**k boy way, no shade lol because I love me some Brent but y'all know the vibes lol If you have yet to tune in to the British Singer/songwriter then you’re in for a treat! Elmiene hopped onto the scene releasing his first single in 2021 ‘Golden’ and in 2023 he released his EP ‘EL-MEAN’. What really started to garner attention was his release of singles ‘Marking My Time’ and ‘Someday’ Both singles were followed up by the ‘Marking my Time EP’ which was expanded into Elmiene’s first studio album ‘Marking My Time (Again)’. If you aint know before the EP, you definitely bout to find out with this project.
I was adding various singles from the EP and the album loving his work, not sure who this artist was until one day I decided it was time to check out his full body of work. ‘Marking My Time (Again)’ is a beautiful piece of work from beginning to end. Some of my favorite songs on the album include, ‘Remember’, from the lyrics to the flow of the melody and how Elmiene flows with the beat, it's a masterpiece! ‘Mama’ is another great song on the album, the bridge really does it for me, I just imagine Elmiene in the studio laying the track down and going off. Wheww. ‘Mad at Fire’ I have played over and over again. It is a beautifully written song about moving on from love. I really want to shout out producer Lil Silva for this track, because it is just phenomenal on so many levels! ‘Someday’ is another track that I am obsessed with. The production just goes really crazy on this song, and vocally Elmiene just takes you to another level. Last but certainly not least, ‘Marking My Time’ is on the album twice and while I enjoy the original version, the remix with BADBADNOTGOOD is just chef's kiss and the perfect ending to the album. The arrangement, the vocals, the production, this album is hands down one of my favorites of 2024. Now before I provide y'all with the links I thought it was only right to also provide the direct video to Elmienes' Tiny Desk performance, which was everything I knew it would be!
