What’s Good Y’all! Meet Jai’Len Josey, a singer, songwriter, and actress from Atlanta, Georgia. Signed to Def Jam/subsidiary Hillman Grad Records, Jai’Len debuted in 2020 with her EP, ‘Illustrations.’ She followed with 2023’s ‘Southern Delicacy.’ Now, after two years, she returns with her first album: 'Serial Romantic'.
What is it about love that makes you keep trying until it feels right? For some, this may not matter, but for others, being a serial romantic is tough, especially when romance feels lost today.

Jai’Len explores hopeless romance, introducing Josey from the album as if watching a 1935 film’s opening credits. 'Heart and Strings' is beautifully composed and introduces the album like a Terri McMillan novel.
The next track on the album, ‘Freak’, gives you a dance vibe as you wrestle with emotions of choosing between love and lust. The following track, 'Housewife', clarifies where your mindset is supposed to be.
Mid-album, the single ‘Love Ain’t Shit’ shifts you to a new reality of a once-admired love. This track reminds me of K. Michelle’s writing.
The album continues with songs like ‘Truce’ and 'Won't Force You’, leading the listener to the awareness that this is a love that has run its course.
Towards the end of the album, you receive a reflection. Reflecting on the decisions you make when it comes to love and choosing who you give your time and energy to.
My favorite song, 'I Believe (Selfish)', closes the album. It beautifully focuses on self-love and offers a soulful performance that leaves you wanting more.
Jai’Len Josey reveals everything on this album. You sense she is a serious romantic, or she sold it with this construction. The beats, harmonizing, lyrics—if you check out one album today, make it this one! Thank me later!
