What's good ya'll?! Ya'll good? I hope everyone made it safely through the Part 1 of the holiday season. I know its tough time year for a lot of people so, sending you so much love and peace during this time.
Ya'll I love me some Brent Faiyaz. Since 2018 I have been a huge fan. Now ya'll know I keeps it real so here's my real thoughts friends. ALL of his music sound the same, but it don't LOL.. let me explain. So its his voice really, there's nothing special about his voice per say like low key its kinda annoying but that's really just because Brent has one tone or key he stays in, again its not a big deal for real because ALL his music is straight bops. Now although he giving Jagged Edge vocally, musically each album is different from the other down to his latest project 'Larger Than Life.'
Released independently through Faiyaz's label ISO Supremacy and distributed through UnitedMasters on October 27, 2023, as a surprise release, the Marylander native tapped into other DMV legends, for this project, such as, Timbaland, Missy Elliot and Pharrell. And you can tell Faiyaz really does this because the sampling on this project is crazy! I don't know about you but one of the biggest issues I have with music now days is that the sampling game has become so saturated. And I don't mind a sample but its really about making it your own and Brent Faiyaz does this each time so effortlessly.
This album had a lot of other features as well which is a little different for Faiyaz within these last two projects. Now I'm not saying he doesn't do features at all but typically his albums are all him. Other collabs on this album range from Coco Jones to A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ant, CruddyMurda, Felix!, Tommy Richman, TTM Dawg, Babyface Ray, N3WYRKLA, Lil Gray, Flee and Princess Cro.
Tim's Intro is GENIUS because how is it that Timbaland can still captivate you in 2023? The violins, Tim's voice, the bass...OMG and then the intro transitions into my favorite song on the album, 'Last One Left' Ft. Missy Elliot and Lil Gray. Missy can just do anything and time and time again she proves that. Now the entire album is a hit, and maybe I am jumping the gun here, but in my personal opinion Brent Faiyaz doesn't have a bad album. He's R&B's Future but in a more subtle way and I just love him lol. Check out the album and let me know what your favorite tracks are.
