What's Good Ya''ll! I had been waiting for this night for MONTHS!!! This was my first hip hop concert since 2019. I had kind of sworn off hip-hop since the Pangea, not all hip hop is toxic but it’s the toxicity I tend to gravitate towards, so to switch up my energy and mindset I started listening to hip hop in the gym…and every now and again during a turn-up weekend or Sunday clean day lol.
I have been wanting to see Megan Live for a few years now, watching videos of her performing live via social media built the anticipation. I was also excited to see GloRilla! I had no clue what to expect from Big Glo but I was ready!!! Now it's a few shows I could have chosen but I decided to take my ass back on home to Baltimore, and I am SO GLAD I did! It ain't nothin' like going home and being with your people and that's exactly where I was as we all awaited Big Glo to take the stage. The show was delayed by an hour but the DJ was so good and the concession lines were so long you really didn't notice. The concert was AMAZING! However, I will say this, I realized I stopped going to hip hop shiows becuase not enough of us be up in there. And for some reason every hip hop show I end up around a bunch of white people and my hyper awareness to hear someone belt the n word so I can go off is just too much lol. Black Retribution aside, lol I do try to have a good time and a time was definitely had at this show!
GloRilla came out ready for Baltimore and Baltimore was ready for her! she performed a lot of her hits like 'Yeah Glo!', 'Tomorrow 2' and 'F.N.F (Let's Go)'. So I'mma say this about Big Glo so far I still think all her music sounds the same, HOWEVER, she is still such a young, developing artist, I'm interested to see how she grows. Her energy was ALL DERE! and let me tell you something, the days of the rap girlies dancing and having a strong stage presence are coming back and I love it! Whether you like her or not Big Glo from Memphis is inspiring!
It has been a ruff few years for Megan Thee Stallion. Trying to stay out of the news and blogs was not easy as her peers and the media continued to discuss the incident that took place in 2020 between parties that shall not be named. I was proud of Megan for not only overcoming such a horrific moment but also rising above all the negative, despite how court preceedings went and people being able to get the facts themselves Megan didn't let negative public opinion keep her from being great! Now this isn't Megan's first tour, but I would say it is her first tour headlining Major Stadiums, I mean sis sold out Madison Square Garden! A lot of artists' dream to perform at MSG, let alone, headline and sell out! On top of that, bringing along another black woman rap artist on the rise, its giving Black Women supporting BlackWomen! Megan The Stallion performed all her hits, I mean if you a hottie you know every song is a HIT! Megan is also another artist, who in my opinion, all her music sound the same lol HOWEVER, what I love about the H-Town hottie is my sis can really rap! Megan also does her hip hop research and the way she has been able to take classic hip hop tracks and make her fit her H-Town style is really something we don't talk about enough!
The stage presence was all there as well! Crowd interaction is always my favorite and she did it so effortlessly without anyone getting outta control even though we were all there to do some hood rat shit with our hood rat friends lol.
I did not think this was going to be one of my favorite concerts but GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion made my night ya'll! So you know the drill, head to my IG for footage of the concert and keep in mind I try to live in the moment so I only have but so much lol : instagram.com/missjlh_
