What's Good Ya'll! I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and or Happy Holidays. As always I want to give love to those who do not enjoy this time of year, who are missing loved ones this time of year and or just not where they want to be. Virtual hugs and so much love to you. Now this will be my last review of the year as I take a quick break to recoup and plan out my 2024. I hope you take a much needed break as well. And a movie break is just what the doctor ordered! Candy Cane Lane starring Eddie Murray and Tracee Ellis Ross is a good time lol.
I honestly didn't really how much I missed Eddie Murphy on film until this movie. Classics like The Haunted Mansion, Dr. DoLittle and Shrek instantly come to mind. While Eddie Murphy is great with adult comedies he is also amazing with family/kid films and it's nice to see him play in both genres upon his return.
Candy Cane Lane is about a man (Eddie Murphy) that is determined to win the neighborhoods annual Christmas decorating contest. Unbeknownst to him, he makes a pact with an elf to help win but the elf casts a spell that brings 12 days of Christmas to life and unexpected chaos to town.
This is a kids movie, let me start off by saying this. So whether you love it a lot or not it doesn't reallly matter because its for the kids lol. There were so many things I loved about this movie, The soundtrack was awesome, the colors, it was a beautiful and colorful film. The cast...WOW! An all star cast, all giving great performances. I mean anything with David Allen Grier I want to see, I say that often. DC Young Fly, typically I don't find him funny but he was a great comedic addition. The carolers were super funny and cute, and you know how in some movies and shows you hate the kids? Well I didn't hate the kids in this lol Lastly, I love that every role Tracee Ellis Ross chooses, the woman she plays ia a major corporate boss! In this particular role she seems to be the director of a package fulfillment center and in the running for a promotion. I just love how intentional she seems to be about her roles and the kind of careers she portrays as a black woman. Its giving Barbie an we can be anything and everything ok!
Last but certainly not least ya'll, the movie a little long ok, I'm not gonna lie I did lose focus and wondered how we go to where we were towards the end but like I said this a whole movie for kids and just put your adult pants on and take one for the team grab your kiddo and spend some time with this cute movie ya'll can stream directly from Prime today!
