Surf7 Keeps the WHOVILLE Momentum Going With New “YODA” Video

Philadelphia's Surf7 isn't letting his debut mixtape sit still. Just days after releasing WHOVILLE, the rising rapper is back with a video for “YODA,” one of the project's most kinetic tracks.
Produced by Wayne616, “YODA” pairs heavy 808s with winding guitar melodies while Surf7 delivers his verses at a rapid clip. Directed by ETS Films, the visual follows him through Philadelphia, matching the record's restless pace.
The release keeps the spotlight on WHOVILLE, a 17-track project that brings together hometown connections and artists from beyond Philly. The guest list includes Meek Mill, Skrilla, Kur and Loe Shimmy.
The mixtape builds on the attention surrounding “GOOSE COAT,” whose push-up challenge helped introduce Surf7 to a wider online audience. The track also received a remix featuring fellow Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, and both versions appear on WHOVILLE.

Other highlights include “WTF” with Skrilla, “JUST THIS ONCE” with Loe Shimmy, “HUM BUG” featuring Kur, and the previously released “7AM IN NEW YORK.” Across the tape, Surf7 moves between punchy street records and more melodic moments without losing his distinctly Philadelphia delivery.
WHOVILLE also arrived alongside a milestone for the artist: his first hometown headlining show, “A Night in WHOVILLE.” The free event drew enough interest to fill its RSVP capacity, according to the release.

With “YODA” following so closely behind the mixtape, Surf7 is making the most of his release window. For listeners catching up, WHOVILLE is the introduction; the new video is another reason to stay tuned.
