What's Good Ya'll! Happy Love Day! Now I know the sentiments about this day tend to be less than favorable, but take a minute and think about the last time you truly took a moment to appreciate the ones you love. And showing love does not always equate to giving gifts, quite often we get too busy with life to show the ones we love how much we appreciate them just by showing up. Some of us have yet to experience love in any capacity. So let's make sure we all aim to spread some extra kindness and love today. In the meantime I thought it would be cool to create a playlist of what I consider to be underrated love songs. Now like the Apple freak I am the playlist is only on apple music but I'll be sure to add the Spotify/Tidal link a little later.
56 minutes of some of my favorite love songs. Playlist Honorable mentions:
I Nominate U by Fantasia is on the same album as When I see U. The entire album is a bop but When I See U is the biggest hit, however I implore you to let I Nominate U to become a fav. It's sultry and sexy, definitely sets a mood!
Poetry by Tamia is one of my favorite Tamia songs of all time. It's literally written like poetry its just so beautiful to me. On top of the way Tamia sings this song just puts me in my feels lol
Everything to Me by Monica is a song similar to I Nominate U. When I say that I mean, it's not a love song you will immediately think of by Monica, in many cases it will automatically be Angel of Mine or For You I Will. I love those songs truly, but Everything to Me is an underrated bop. Not only is she vocally always on point but our good sis turned an old school heart-break ballad (original by Deniece Williams) into a whole love song...ICONIC.
Sweet Thing by Mary J. Blige is another rendition (original by Chaka Khan and Rufus) and you know remaking old school songs are tough but those 90's artists knew how to do it so effortlessly. Mary J Blige is sometimes known for giving us classic heartbreak music but she has some really great love songs and this one is top tier.
Last but certainly not least, I want to mention It's Whatever by Aaliyah. Now Aaliyah has love ballads for days, however this song on her last self-titled album was so beautiful.Vocally, Lyrically and production wise, the little details of every sound you hear within the song compliment the vocals so well. The entire album really shows Aaliyahs growth as an artist and its definitely one of my favorites.
The playlist is a mix of old school and new bops so check it out! You don't have to be coupled to love love, No matter how you celebrate or who you celebrate with just take a moment sit down, wine and down yourself and check out these love tunes!
