Doechii has brought back Swamp Sessions, and the return comes with more than a new track. Released October 12, “Bombs” arrives with a self-directed video, putting the rapper back in the short-form performance space that helped build anticipation for her 2024 mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal.

Before that Grammy-winning project became a career milestone, Swamp Sessions introduced listeners to her wordplay and personality. The series helped launch songs including “Nissan Altima” and “Catfish.” Bringing it back now feels like a deliberate reminder that behind the fashion moments and larger-than-life visuals is an artist who loves the craft of rapping.

Alongside the release, Doechii shared a handwritten note about studying Hip Hop's history and wanting Black womanhood at the center of Hip Hop and pop. It is a statement of creative purpose, not an official album announcement. Her debut studio album still has no confirmed release date.

There's something refreshing about returning to a format that lets the bars do the talking while also directing the camera yourself. A new chapter doesn't always mean abandoning what made people pay attention.
