What’s Good Y'all!!! This year's theme is all about Purpose. What is one’s purpose? What are you meant to do? This next artist was a beautiful sign to the lingering questions I’ve had for the past few weeks. Otis Kane began his musical journey in college, majoring in music. However, he would soon drop out when given the opportunity to work with Nellee Hooper as an LA-based producer. It was also during this time that he became the keyboard player for Lolene’s live band. He would then venture out to open his own studio and work with various artists from Wiz Khalifa to Nick Jonas. Continuing to follow his purpose in 2021 Otis Kane released his first studio album. Purple-Blue. Now with the release of his second studio album, Violet, you either get to know this artist a little more or you’re finally introduced. Either way, this album is a great, smooth ride for all 12 songs.

My favorite songs from this album are, 'Kaleidoscope', do you remember those from when we were kids? They were really magical as a child and so is this song. The way a kaleidoscope was beautifully designed, is how I view this song. The vocal range shown on this track is beautiful and flows so well with the instrumentals.
Another track that’s a fav of mine is 'Honey' featuring Sugar Jones. Their voices blend so beautifully making this love track even smoother than the title suggests.
And lastly, 'Breathe' is a dope dance track that makes you wanna groove like they did back in the day lol. Otis did an awesome job visually bringing the vision of the song to life, with reels of flashbacks to a time when people actually danced at parties and had a good time.
What I love about Otis Kane is his sound being a mix of old school and new, putting him in a class with other amazing artists like Kenyon Dixon, PJ Morton, Kalisway and Kirby. I’m glad Otis is a producer turned artist, they tend to really put their all into their projects and I truly look forward to more to come from Otis Kane! Check his latest project Violet, links below:
