That Mexican OT Takes Houston Rap to New Heights With Texans’ 713 Sessions

Houston has never needed permission to make its music heard. Now the Houston Texans are giving the city's sound a very literal platform: the roof of their stadium. The team's new performance series, 713 Sessions, launched with rapper That Mexican OT and guitarist Jeremy Garcia performing atop a steel structure supporting the retractable roof.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the Bay City rapper performed “Johnny Dang,” “Water” and a new song, “Apple Bottom,” alongside Garcia, a classical and flamenco guitarist.
The series comes from the Texans' in-house Hustle Town Studio, which aims to create original work across sports, culture and entertainment. The team says it plans to feature more artists and genres, prioritizing Houston talent.
Most artists get a stage and a lighting rig. This one got a skyline and a football stadium. But the bigger story is what happens when a major sports organization treats local music as part of its cultural identity rather than background noise during a game.
