What's Good Ya'll! I hope everyone is having a beautiful summer. While life has been doing its thing, my girls and I decided to take a trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey to check out the Queens of R&B Tour.
WE HAD A TIME! The entire trip was like the movie girls trip we had so much fun lol but what happens on the girls trip stays on the girls trip so let me get to the concert!
This was my first time seeing a concert at this venue. The prices for the seats were pretty good I'd say. The venue in Atlantic City is nice but I don't like the arena seats they are too close together or something very uncomfortable. My friends and I got to the show late because unfortunately the myth about CPT is as true as the day is long lol. We ended up missing the openers, The OMG Girlz, 702 and Total. We were so upset about it however, we got there just as Mya was going on.
Now I have been to plenty of R&B concerts, especially newer R&B artists so I wasn't sure to expect from my childhood favorites who have paved the way for the newer generation. From time to time I like to play a playlist of Mya, Xscape and SWV when I'm in an old school R&B mood so this concert was right up my alley. I have been trying to make sure I see all of the greats as well, and I am so happy that this was a show I did not miss!
Mya not only looked amazing but she sounded amazing and was a performer! If you have never seen Mya live she is a must see! Now my best friend and I were hungry because as I said we got there late lol so I did not catch all of her performance just a few songs, however we did rush back to catch Xscape and SWV.
I'm not a huge Xscape fan but I will say they made me love them even more after the show. I do not know a lot of their songs, the important radio bops of course come to mind like Who Can I Run To, Just Kickin' It, My Little Secret and Understanding. I mean if you were a huge Xscape fan album for album then you have to check out the remaining shows they have in August. I will say that it took a minute for Xscape to warm up, I do think they save too many of their hits for the end but I guess I get that.
When it came to SWV the MICS WERE ON HONEY!!!! I have always wanted to see the Sisters With Voices live! I have heard about how amazing they sound and honestly just writing about it doesn't do them justice. I was really in my bag seeing SWV because I just remember hearing them as a kid and how much I loved them. I definitely had a fangirl moment seeing, in what I believe, to be some of the best vocalists in the game!
