What’s good y'all?
Last minute, impulsive decisions are my favorite thing to make, sometimes. Especially when the decision is to attend a concert of one of my favorite artists on a school night. Tori Kelly made her return to Nashville, TN with her ‘Purple Skies Tour’, performing at the historical Ryman theater.

I was really excited about this show, my husband was kind of whatever about it lol he likes a few of her songs but I played her Tori. album so much with the past year he knows and likes more than a few ok! So we actually got the show a little late (that CPT really is a problem within our community and I’m trying to be better but I just think me and time will never see eye to eye lol) I wasn’t aware of the history of the Ryman prior to going. I walked in very befuddled thinking we were about to be a part of some revival. Then I realized we were two of only a handful of black people in the building and while in my past I used to be comfortable in majority white spaces, Trump-era times have made me less comfortable and more on guard within these times. However, the lack of melanin in the room did not ruin my energy from enjoying the night. The opener, UK artist Maisy Kay, was energetic and fun. While her music wasn’t really my vibe, I look forward to her growth as an artist in the coming future. The main attraction, Tori Kelly, was highly anticipated by the crowd as you could feel the energy shift to excitement and high praise as she opened with ‘thing u do’. Dorning cute, baggy, cut-out, jeans that were embellished with jewels that sparkled everytime she moved with grace and ease. Singing songs from her latest released album Tori such as, ‘shelter’ ‘alive if i die’ ‘diamonds’ ‘young gun’ ‘spruce’ ‘oceans’, ‘shine on’ ‘high water’, ‘same girl’ and my two favorites ‘cut’ and ‘missing u’. If you’re an OG Tori fan, you also got some classics thrown in there such as, ‘Dear No one’, ‘Paper Hearts’, ‘Confetti’ and ‘Should’ve Been Us’ to name a few. From the amazing crowd interaction to the world premiere of a new upcoming track, the night was filled with great, high energy that was a perfect start to a new week and month! Sounding even better than her album Tori took us to church as she sang her latest sound that gave a mix of R&B and Gospel. In the end we were in a revival as the crowd gave Tori her flowers. All our good sis could do was give the glory to God and I loved that! If you have never seen Tori live, I HIGHLY suggest it! The tour has been going since August and there are more stops to come, so if you want to see her live please check out Toris' IG and website below:
