Fireboy DML's ZUKO! Brings Masicka Into the Mix and Takes the Sound Across Borders

Fireboy DML has a new album out, and his guest list is doing some serious traveling. The Nigerian singer's fifth studio project, ZUKO!, arrived in the October 16 release window through YBNL Nation and EMPIRE, with 13 tracks connecting sounds and artists from Nigeria, Jamaica and South Africa.
For dancehall listeners, the standout collaboration to note is “CLAAT!” featuring Jamaica's Masicka. The track was released ahead of the album, so this isn't a brand-new feature, but it now has a home in Fireboy's larger musical story. Elsewhere, Lojay appears on “GODDESS,” while JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela join him on “IMALI,” a song shaped by South African musical influences. Judah Earl is featured on the opener, “DEAR FATHER.”
The album follows 2024's Adedamola and gives Fireboy space to explore different rhythmic worlds while keeping his melodic identity at the center. It's another reminder that the exchange between Afrobeats and dancehall is not a passing trend. These sounds have been in conversation for years, and the collaborations keep finding new ways to carry that conversation forward.
From Lagos to Jamaica and South Africa, ZUKO! makes for a playlist with a passport. And the Masicka collaboration gives dancehall fans a familiar point of entry.
